The Conjuration (Spell)
Eagle owls, barn owls, toads and witches.
Evil demons and devils, spirits from snowy meadows.
Ravens, salamanders and witches, spells from witchdoctors.
Putrid pierced canes, home of worms and vermin.
Fire from souls in torment, evil eye, black spells, smell of the
dead, thunder and lightning.
Bark of dog, announcement of death; satyr's snout and rabbit's
foot.
Sinning tongue of evil woman married to an old man.
Hell of Satan and beelzebub, fire from corpses in flames,
mutilated bodies of the indecent, farts from infernal backsides,
bellowing of the enraged sea.
Useless womb of the single woman, meow of cats on heat, evil
and dirty hair of the badly birthed goat.
With this pot I will lift up the flames from this fire that likens
Hell, and the witches will flee atop their brooms, to bathe
themselves in thick-grained beaches.
Listen! Listen! To the roars of those who cannot stop burning
in the liquor and become putrefied.
And when this potion slips down our throats, we will be free
of the evils in our soul and free from all bewithcment.
Forces of the air, eart, sea and fire, I make this call to you: if
it is true that you have more power than human people, here and now,
Make the spirits of friends who are beyond, participate with
us in this Queimada...
